Emergency AC repair in Tucson
If your AC quits in a Tucson summer, call for service, then move anyone at risk to a cool place. Don't wait to see if the house cools off at night. In July the airport's average low is now 77.6°F.

The first hour
- Call or send a request now. Say the house has no cooling and whether anyone at home is elderly, pregnant or unwell. That helps the company decide who goes first.
- Check the breakers and the filter. Reset a tripped breaker once only.
- If there's ice on the lines or the indoor coil, switch the system off and the fan on.
- Close blinds on the sunny side, and keep doors to the coolest room shut.
- If the house is getting dangerous, leave. Pima County runs cooling centers in summer, and a few hours somewhere air-conditioned helps, according to the CDC.
Heat is a medical risk
The National Weather Service lists heavy sweating, cool and clammy skin and a fast weak pulse among the signs of heat exhaustion. Its advice is to move the person somewhere cooler (air-conditioned if possible). Get medical help if they vomit or symptoms last more than an hour. A body temperature above 103°F with hot, red skin can mean heat stroke. Call 911.
The CDC says electric fans won't prevent heat illness when it's really hot. The National Weather Service says not to point a fan at yourself when the room is above 90°F. More on getting through the wait.
What emergency service costs
After-hours and holiday visits often cost more than a weekday appointment. Ask about any after-hours fee when you book. The repair itself is priced the same way as any other: the technician diagnoses it and quotes it before starting. National figures for common repairs are on our cost page.
Why so many systems fail at once
Breakdowns cluster in heat waves. Through October 24, 2026 the airport logged 77 days at 100°F or more in 2026. The hottest stretch is when capacitors and motors give out. Companies get busy on those days, which is one reason a spring tune-up is worth it. AC tune-ups.

Questions Tucson homeowners ask
Is no AC an emergency in Tucson?
In summer it can be, especially for older adults and babies. Tell the company who is at home when you call, and move people somewhere cool if the house heats up.
Can I run fans instead until the repair?
Fans help a little, but the CDC says they won't prevent heat illness when it's really hot, and the National Weather Service says not to point one at yourself above 90°F. A cooling center is safer.
Where are cooling centers in Tucson?
Pima County lists them with a map on pima.gov. Its summer season runs May 15 to September 15.
